Take a family with two parents, two bigs, two middles, and two littles; add two photographers, and you end up with an amazingly fun photo shoot at the park on a super humid and hot Saturday. Thank you to our new friends we met courtesy of the Aurora Pride Parade, for trusting us with your family's precious photos.
Sometimes our clients become our friends, and that makes us so happy. We met these guys a couple years ago when they were looking for a photographer for their little girl’s first birthday party. They prefer candids over posed shots, and like our journalistic, lifestyle photography. We have enjoyed photographing their parties, a baby shower, family celebrations, and a couple of baby baptisms.
Candids are our specialty, but sometimes you just need everybody looking in the same direction in a tight formation, so that’s what we did today. We think they’ll have a hard time choosing a favorite shot for their family Christmas cards because we had a hard time limiting ourselves to sharing just a few on our website!
Are these folks photogenic, or what! Friends like these make our job so easy, and so much fun.
Aren’t twins such a marvel? I always wanted to have twins of my own, and luckily, we have friends who have the most adorable boys who don’t mind (too much) posing for a picture or two. We have come to love this family of four.
Chuck and I were invited to visit them Saturday, and we brought along our cameras, just in case photo opportunities presented themselves. We’re so glad we did.
There weren’t many autumn leaves left, and the recent snow had mostly melted, but no worries; their new home and backyard provided a cozy backdrop for some posed and candid shots of mom and dad, the boys, and the whole family.
As it turned out, we had a one hour window of opportunity for our family photo shoot at Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve before the rain fell. That was just enough time to try four different locations at the forest preserve for this darling family of three, starring baby Jude.
Mom and Dad were naturals in front of the camera, and needed no coaching from us on posing or expressions. Jude is the happiest little guy, and is so photogenic. There may be some photogenetics involved, if that’s a thing. There sure is a lot of love in this little family, which you can see for yourself.
My goal today was to bring my stuffed owl that jingles, thinking it might hold the baby’s interest. Unfortunately, Mr. Owl was left at home, so I had to get resourceful, and I borrowed one of Jude’s bright orange burp rags to wave behind Chuck.
While Chuck managed to snap one adorable picture after another, I was bouncing behind him like a personal cheerleader for Jude, with my orange rag as a pompom, yelling, “Hey, Jude! Jude! Look over here, buddy! Hey, Jude!”
Jude was ready for a snack and a snooze just about the same time it started to sprinkle, so we snapped just a few more shots, and called it a day. He really was such a happy baby during the photo shoot; he earned that bottle of milk and nap on the car ride home.
Anyone else humming “Hey, Jude” now? What a great song, and what an adorable little boy.
“Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey, Jude…”

We Have an Announcement!
We are the proud parents of a new...
Wait for it...
No, no love child here for us old folks. We just finally got around to making a Facebook page and a website for Bennorth Images. We even had business cards printed. WHAT?!? I know! Now, if we could just remember to slip them in our pockets when we head out!
Have you noticed us online? We realize if you’re reading this on BennorthImages.com, you know about us, but we'd love for you to check us out, and follow us on Facebook, if that's your thing. If not, and you just want to take a peek, that's okay, too. And if this blog post is not your cup of tea, you can leave right here and now; it will be our little secret. You won't hurt our feelings.
Chuck and I have never had to mutually agree on a name; that happens to couples who marry later in life, especially when the senior couple in question buys more than one dog so each can name his or her own dog. Coming up with a name for our photography business was quite the process.
Our first, most logical choice was Bennorth Photography. Bennorth is not a common name, so we figured that would be our business name. Nope. There is a fellow photographer named Ben North. He got dibs on the URL that includes "bennorthphotography." Dang it.
Then we started brainstorming names. That was tough. Everything we came up with sounded too much like another business, or corny, or just not like us. After awhile, we finally hit upon Bennorth Images.
We loved it, and we hope you do, too!
No thanks necessary; it's all part of our services here at Happy Acres. ;-)
What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning, listening to Jenny's jams in the background, while photographing some of the most incredibly beautiful mamas and babies of Chicago on the patio of Build Coffee at the University of Chicago campus. Bennorth Images loves Mama Fresh Chi, and looks forward to partnering with her in the future.
This exceptional mama is going places with her vision for young mothers in the city. Jenny is always on the lookout for fun, affordable activities for young families. Mama Fresh Chi is an advocate for breastfeeding, and she hopes to normalize nursing while encouraging mothers with her enthusiasm and knowledge.
This website has been a dream for a long time, and we are finally getting things up and running. Now that we have a Bennorth Images website, we can move on to other exciting things like personalized business cards.
Most of what we do would be considered hobby photography; we volunteer at local theaters, both children's and community, and we take our cameras wherever we go, photographing parades, concerts, landscapes, flowers, pets; you name it. Many people have contacted us through a friend of a friend, and we've always come up short when people ask about our website.
Well, no longer! Here we have it: the Bennorth Images official website. Take a look around, and make yourself at home. And if you notice any glaring typos or missing information, shoot Denise an email. She'll be grateful for your feedback!
